pe & health Overview

Physical education in the Upper School is tailored to meet the needs, interests, strengths, and abilities of individual students. Choice of activity and a variety of offerings are imperative to establishing a program that serves the needs of the entire student body. The goal is for students to develop a positive attitude toward physical activity and to maintain an active lifestyle going forward.

Students take Health 9 with the goal of taking charge of their own health and wellness, learning to develop healthy habits and behaviors, and learning how to care for their personal health and safety. Students are introduced to tools that they can use to track their own nutrition and fitness, and they are asked to think critically about their own health habits and demonstrate responsibility and independence both in and out of class.

Through our program, students come to understand how proper exercise through a variety of sports and leisure activities, good nutrition, and a commitment to health and safety can greatly improve their overall well-being and quality of life.
