College Planning Timeline

SeniorS: Fall

  • Individual meetings with Mrs. Lewis to finalize college list and discuss college application process.
  • Attend College Rep Visits throughout the Fall at Park.
  • Take SAT or ACT for the last time.
  • Ask two teachers for letters of recommendation.
  • Attend College Open Houses and College Fairs.
  • Completion of College Essay & College Resume.
  • Submit College Applications by Thanksgiving. 

SeniorS: Spring

  • Please bring in college acceptance letters and scholarship letters.
  • Develop a spreadsheet of the colleges you got into and complete a pros and cons list.
  • Make a final choice as to what college you are going to attend and notify that college by May 1.

 

 

Juniors: Fall

  • Use Naviance to search for colleges and create a college list.
  • Attend college fairs and college open houses.
  • Take Strengths Explorer Career Assessment in Naviance.
  • Tailor College Resume in Naviance.
  • Take PSAT in October and review results with Mrs. Lewis.

Juniors: spring

  • Individual meetings with Mrs. Lewis to discuss college and college major options.
  • Use Naviance to search for colleges and create a college list.
  • Attend college fairs and college open houses.
  • Take Strengths Explorer Career Assessment in Naviance.
  • Tailor College Resume in Naviance.

  • Keep updating your college list in Naviance.
  • Tour colleges with your family.
  • Start exploring scholarships and financial aid.
  • Complete College Essay in Junior Seminar Class.
  • Have a strong finish to your school year.
  • Do something productive with your summer, such as a job or internship.

sophomores: Fall

  • Take the PSAT in October.
  • Take career assessments in Naviance.
  • Discuss the development of your college resume.
  • Meet with Mrs. Lewis to talk about your goals.
