Biography

Jerrold Miraglia has been an instrumental music teacher at Park since November 2017. His responsibilities include teaching grades 4 through 12 instrumental music lessons, Middle and Upper School bands, and the recorder to Grade 3. Since coming to Park, he has created the Pioneers of Jazz, the Middle School Band, the Middle School Jazz Ensemble and Grade 3 recorder class.

Jerrold has extensive experience teaching instrumental music ranging from elementary through college. He has taught in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Vancouver, British Columbia, North Carolina and New York, most recently in the Orchard Park Central School District. During his tenure with the Orchard Park School District, the bands under his leadership received Gold with Distinction or Gold awards yearly from the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Large Ensemble Festival. Jerrold has served as an elementary guest conductor for all county bands for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Genesee and Erie County Music Educators Associations, and as a junior high guest conductor for Erie County Music Educators Association. Jerrold participated in the NYSSMA Music Reviews, Standard-Based Teaching and Learning Across the State, teaching elementary students Blues Improvisation. In October, 2019, Jerrold presented a workshop for band directors at the New York State Band Directors Association conference on jazz improvisation.

Jerrold earned the B.S. degree in Music Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Music degree in Music Education/Performance from West Virginia University.
