Biography

Caitlin Littlefield came to Park in 2020. She has over a decade of experience in progressive education, and is thrilled to be part of the Park Middle School team as the 5th and 6th grade math and science teacher. She loves working with adolescents, and has worked with students in grades 6-12 for her entire career. Her teaching focuses on interdisciplinary investigation and metacognition, and she is passionate about equitable education, pedagogy research and math literacy.

Caitlin began teaching at Virginia Beach Friends School, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and then moved across the country to join the faculty at the Gardner School in Vancouver, Washington. In both schools, she developed a place-based experiential curriculum, including exploring the Tetons in Wyoming, reflecting on civil rights in Selma and Birmingham, Alabama, and examining US history while traveling from Jamestown to D.C. She also worked at Buffalo Seminary as the Dean of Teaching and Learning, where she supported faculty in developing globally engaged, interdisciplinary curriculum.

Caitlin is a graduate of the University of Toronto, with a BA in Mathematics, and of The University of Wisconsin, Madison, with an MS in Environmental Resources, focusing on atmospheric chemistry. She earned her teaching certificate from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, with specialization in secondary mathematics and social studies instruction.
