Biography

Hannah Sullivan is the upper school chemistry and middle school life science teacher, joining the Park community in the 2025-2026 academic year after receiving her second Master of Science in Science Education (Chemistry 7-12) from Buffalo State University, graduating summa cum laude and receiving the Swartney-Harris “Passion for Teaching Science” award. Before pursuing a career in education, Hannah received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Master of Science in Engineering (Environmental) Science from the University at Buffalo, worked as an Environmental Chemist, and most recently was a substitute teacher at Sweet Home High School.

Hannah’s science courses are described as student-centered and mastery-based; where technology is implemented responsibly and strategically, scientific discourse is encouraged, and hands-on manipulation of science and engineering practices occur daily. NYS literacy initiatives are highlighted by the purpose-driven integration of information from a variety of sources, as well as collaborative and culminating projects that showcase the development of students’ scientific reasoning. With additional time spent fostering a growth mindset, students in Hannah’s classroom are encouraged to take educational risks – becoming comfortable having to grapple with difficult information and work towards improvement not perfection – a vital skill for success beyond the classroom.

Outside of the classroom, Hannah is a proud wife of a union carpenter and mother to two wonderful daughters, Ada and Cora, and loves to travel (she has traveled to 18 countries so far!). Hannah is excited to join the Park parent community as Ada joins The Children’s House this year!
