I’m Catherine Suchan, and I will be teaching 5th and 6th grade Humanities at The Park School of Buffalo. I believe that learning should be meaningful, engaging, and rooted in connection, both to ideas and to one another. In my classroom, students explore literature, history, and writing in ways that encourage critical thinking, empathy, and curiosity.One of my favorite quotes comes from Agatha Christie: “I would rather have a world of kindly, faulty, human beings, than a world of superior robots who've said goodbye to pity and understanding and sympathy.” That idea -- valuing humanity in all its imperfections -- guides how I teach and how I build community with my students. When I'm not in the classroom, I enjoy reading, cooking, gardening, cheering on my favorite sports teams, and spending time outside with my husband and our dog, Rio. I’m grateful to be part of a school that values joy, creativity, and authentic learning. |
