  • Administrative Assistant

    Description:

    The Park School of Buffalo is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess strong communication and multitasking skills. Under supervision, they will perform a variety of clerical record keeping, record checking, filing, typing and public contact duties of moderate difficulty in a school office; and to perform other related duties as assigned, including school attendance.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Perform a variety of clerical work, including typing, proofreading, filing, checking, and recording information on records
    • Screen all incoming phone calls, inquiries, visitors, and correspondence, and route accordingly
    • Sort and distribute mail 
    • May assist in matters related to the school health office including maintenance of immunization records 
    • Duplicate materials, operate a variety of office machines, including computer, copying, and mailing machine 
    • Maintain accurate attendance records, including verifying student absences, providing information from Veracross database
    • Contact parents by telephone or email regarding student absences
    • Type requisitions and orders supplies 
    • Manage transportation arrangements (district bussing), upon returning to normalcy
    • Maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information
    • Maintain The Park School of Buffalo calendar   
    • Conduct phone calls and compose emails on behalf of leadership team as assigned
    • Assist in planning and coordinating some school events, meetings, and conferences, and arrange catering, transportation, rentals and accommodations as necessary
    • Coordinate arrangements for teacher conferences, i.e. registration, travel, hotel  
    • Model the mission, philosophy and goals of the school to all staff, parents, students, and the community 

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Fluent in use of MS Office applications and Google Suite 
    • Excellent communication and writing skills  
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously  
    • Ability to prioritize well and to work efficiently under pressure  
    • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction

    The Park School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Girl’s Varsity Basketball Coach to lead and develop our team.  The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of the game, and the ability to inspire student-athletes to reach their full potential on and off the court. 

    Qualifications

    • Proven coaching success and/or competitive basketball experience (high school or collegiate level preferred)
    • Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, and game strategy

    Founded in 1912, The Park School of Buffalo has the distinction of being one of the oldest Progressive schools in the country. Park is an independent, co-educational school serving approximately 300 students in Pre-K-12. 

    Park is seeking a full-time Instrumental Instructor to work with students in Grades 4-12. The person will be responsible for teaching students how to play band instruments at various levels and understand music theory within a school setting. They will lead rehearsals, prepare students for performances, and manage the band program. Their duties will include lesson planning, student evaluation, instrument maintenance, and fostering a positive learning environment. 

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Instruction: Teach students in grades 4 through 12 how to play band instruments (woodwinds, brass, percussion), and develop their musical skills. 
    • Curriculum: Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with educational standards for students in grades 4 through 12. 
    • Rehearsals: Conduct rehearsals, select music of varied styles and genres, and prepare students for performances. 
    • Performance: Organize and direct concerts, parades, and other band-related events, including but not limited to ECMEA and NYSSMA. 
    • Assessment: Evaluate student progress, provide feedback, and track their development. 
    • Instrument Management: Oversee instrument maintenance, repairs, and inventory. 
    • Classroom Management: Create a positive and engaging learning environment. 
    • Collaboration: Work with other music teachers, school administrators, and parents. 
    • Professional Development: Stay updated on best practices in music education. 
    Requirements:

    Must have classroom experience with, and affinity for, students of this wide age range. Strong pedagogy, differentiation, and developmental awareness required. Candidates must strike the right balance between setting high expectations and nurturing their students’ growth and have the following qualities:

    The Park School is seeking a full-time Physical Education and Health Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will be ready to support students' understanding of the relationship between healthy body function and exercise; to motivate each student to cultivate physical fitness and make appropriate social and emotional adjustments; and to discover and develop the talents of students in physical achievement. In addition, this individual will help students develop strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual, and team physical activities and sports, in accordance with each student’s ability. Candidates may also be asked to serve as a homeroom teacher, advisory, and/or club advisor for a group of middle school or upper school students.

    Affinity for students in the PreK-Grade 12 range is a must, and classroom experience with students across that range is strongly preferred. Strong pedagogy, differentiation, and developmental awareness are required. Candidates must strike the right balance between setting high expectations and nurturing their students’ growth. Other expectations include:

    • Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, and individual, dual, or team sports, utilizing curriculum designated by The Park School in addition to other appropriate learning activities.
    • Work cooperatively with other physical education teachers to plan and implement a balanced physical education program.
    • Analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms, and the fundamentals of body movement.
    • Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the School’s progressive philosophy; provide individualized and small-group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students.
    • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment for all classes.
    • Provide appropriate safety instruction and make safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students.
    • Evaluate academic and social growth of students, prepare report cards, and keep appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, census forms, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary.
    • Communicate with families, students, and school leaders on student progress.

    The Park School is seeking a dynamic and visionary Head of Institutional Marketing and Communication who is authentically aligned with the theory of experiential education and is committed to fostering a culture of inclusivity and growth within all aspects of the School. Reporting to the Head of School and serving on the administrative team, the Head of Institutional Marketing and Communication will oversee all aspects of marketing and communications, including:

    • Leading and executing all digital marketing initiatives, including website content, search engine optimization (SEO), answer engine optimization (AEO) social media, email marketing, and online advertising campaigns.
    • Managing the development and execution of marketing campaigns that elevate and differentiate the school's profile and reputation.
    • Coordinating storytelling initiatives that highlight student achievements, faculty excellence, and school accomplishments across both traditional and digital platforms.
    • Fostering collaboration among Admissions, Advancement, Academics, Athletics, and Student Life departments.
    • Leading enrollment marketing and outreach, creating a strong lead generation funnel of student prospects and enrollment applicants.
    • Securing earned media through public relations initiatives and supporting HOS in media requests for interviews or written statements.
    • Preparing regular reports and recommendations for school leadership and the Board of Trustees.
    • Serving as a point of contact for alumni inquiries and communications.
    • Developing and maintaining regular communication with alumni through email campaigns, newsletters, social media, and personal outreach, including The Pioneer magazine.
    • Creating engaging content that highlights alumni achievements and school initiatives.
    • Representing the Park School in the greater community as relevant opportunities arise. 

     

    Requirements:

    The ideal candidate is a strong writer, creative strategist, and collaborative leader with experience in marketing and communications, preferably in education or another mission-driven organization. The ideal candidate knows and understands the Park School’s unique pedagogic approach; remains up to date on Park’s programmatic offerings; and continually researches the greater educational landscape in order to tell and differentiate Park’s story. Expertise in digital marketing, content strategy, and project management is essential. In addition, the candidate will be primarily responsible for fostering meaningful relationships between the school and its alumni community, helping strengthen alumni connections, increase engagement, support school initiatives, and promote a lifelong relationship with the institution. Qualifications Include:

    • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus
    • Significant marketing/communications experience, especially in an educational or mission-driven organization
    • Sales or enrollment-related experience in a nonprofit or corporate setting a plus
    • Significant experience with digital marketing and social media, including appropriate use of AI to scale department efficiency 
    • Exceptional attention to detail, as demonstrated in writing, editing, and proofreading skills
    • Knowledge of Canva, Photoshop, and/or InDesign preferred
